Breast screening is currently offered to women aged 50 to their 71st birthday in England. You'll first be invited for screening within 3 years of your 50th birthday, Breast screening uses an X-ray test called a mammogram to check the breast for signs of cancer. It can spot cancers that are too small to see or feel. The whole appointment takes less than half an hour and the mammogram only takes a few minutes. You can still have screening once you are 71 or over if you want to, and can arrange an appointment by contacting your local screening unit or GP.
Bowel Screening is a life saving screening programme
The Practice is concerned about the recent uptake rates, so our receptionists all had training this year from the Health Promotion Specialist - NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme. If you receive a screening kit through your letterbox and are unsure or you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us and hopefully we can allay any concerns.
